Tooth Replacement

Porcelain Fixed Bridges

Fixed bridges are a non-removable option to replace missing teeth. They're comprised of two crowns affixed to neighboring – or anchoring teeth. The artificial teeth then sit in between, replacing the missing teeth. They're strong and durable, but will need to be replaced after many years.

Typically a fixed bridge involves two or more appointments. The first visit to Dr. Buttaro for a bridge entails taking a mold for the permanent bridge and preparing the anchoring teeth for the crowns. The bridge is placed and checked for proper fit and alignment during the second visit. The bridge may be temporarily fixed to allow for any adjustments, and then permanently cemented at a later appointment.

Advantages of a fixed bridge:

  • Maintain facial shape
  • Fill gaps from missing teeth
  • Prevention of teeth shifting
  • Stronger and more durable than standard dentures
  • Restore better chewing
